Marble floor restoration and grouting Cambridge

Last week we were commissioned to work on a marble floor that hadn’t been cleaned by Art of Clean for approximately six years. Since then cleaning techniques have improved and our technicians have used these new techniques to enhance their skills, enabling them to grind and polish stone in and around the Cambridge area.

Before cleaning the grout and marble floor was stained and dull looking:

To clean the marble floor we started by cutting the stone with a diamond disc to achieve a uniform finish, which also reduces lippage. The lippage is where a floor has been laid unevenly and there is a protrusion between the slabs.
Once this stage of the marble cleaning process had been finished we then started cutting the dirty grout lines out between the marble tiles. This was a time consuming task, carefully cutting the grout from between the slabs needs some precision work. We carry out this process when the grout has been permanently stained, to ensure the best finish at the end of the cleaning process.

After this part of the process we then finished cutting the marble using 3 more grades of diamond pads.
Then next part of the marble cleaning process was to polish the stone floor using a special polishing powder, once we were happy, and the client was happy with the finish we then grouted the floor, being careful to ensure we did a colour match with the marble floor.

The final stage was to clean the floor with a soft sponges and cloths to apply the sealer. The floor now looks as good as new and it should be much easier to keep it clean.
